Early start on Friday 04 October 2024 It was a bit chilly early but soon warmed to a very “let’s jump on the ocean” 27° later on! Lots of orange groves, of course. Benidorm was interesting with fabulous natural scenery but too much like the Gold Coast – too touristy for me. Great scenery. GreatContinue reading “Costa Brava”

Washed the car.
Mums n Dads and their kids walking past. They don’t bucket wash their cars here, so that was odd for them to see. The steering wheel is on the wrong side. Not many big red Mercedes around here. The CAUTION AUSTRALIAN DRIVING on the rear window had them practising their English, and they laughed whenContinue reading “Washed the car.”
Orpesa, Spain
Google Maps showed a red line delay of 30 minutes on AP 7 AGAIN, so I took the next exit to Orpesa to grab a coffee. Another surprise. Very nice..soft sand etc. See pictures and video.
Alghero Beach
Discovered by accident. I was a bit hungry, and the Roadside Menus were expensive and unappetizing. I found a highly rated Cafe in Alghero Beach, so down I went. Fabulous Cafe, great staff, delicious food and coffee. I went for a walk! Wow! See pictures.

At a later roadside stop, Police told me a truck hit another truck, sending it over the edge ontoContinue reading “Huge Crash on AP7”
Leisurely day as rain arrived late afternoon
Went for cafe con leche and a drive into the mountains. Rest of the day booking the ferry back to England and Airbnbs all over Spain, Portugal, France, and England before I fly to China on 13 November.
Why do I stay in small country towns outside capital cities?
My Airbnb hosts are friendly, passionate, and just great company. I visited a local Cafe every day for the last 3 days. A friendly welcome every time and they knew my coffee order from day 2. No crowds. No fear of damage to my car or theft of car or my personal belongings. No stress.Continue reading “Why do I stay in small country towns outside capital cities?”
Barcelona.
Full of churros and Cafe con leche, I decided to hop the coastal R1 train into Barcelona. WTF? I’ve never seen a huge city so quiet and devoid of economic activity. I played tourist, spilled coffee down the front of my white t-shirt, so I looked like a right imbecile! Chatted with a couple ofContinue reading “Barcelona.”
1st October 2024 – Churros Day
Most Cafes who make fresh churros only do so on weekends (who knew), so I whipped down the C-32 to Mataro, where this guy makes them fresh daily!
