Nazare to Fiães

Saturday 19 October 2024

An early start in chilly cloudy weather. I decided to add 90 kilometres and 2 hours to the journey by taking coastal back roads and was amply rewarded for my efforts.

Note – some of the country towns drivers here are insane!

I learned today, from an expert coffee roaster, when I saw bags of robusta beans, that in Portugal they mix robusta and arabica, between 30 and 50% of robusta beans. That’s why the coffee is generally not great in Portugal and why sugar is always needed.
