Messages to my Airbnb host…
M****** After our really lovely conversations…just you and me these last few hours, I was looking forward to a restful sleep. The other guest was not listening to your request for him NOT to conduct noisy nline training at 1030pm at night. He does not understand that he is not the only person in the apartment. When I tried to reinforce the notion of a. Quiet time and b. Respect, he became possessive and aggressive..His final assertion that he was a Police Officer was enough for me to be afraid of what he was REALLY DOING IN HIS ROOM SO…SADLY FOR YOU AND ME, I DECIDED TO LEAVE.
It is very, very important for Hosts to ENFORCE THE RULES around quiet time and to be pro active and not reactive. Being reactive with a belligerent guest like this almost always leads to a bad outcome.
It is now 11 pm at night. I am on the road in my car looking for alternative accommodation. This is not the outcome I desired.
Manuela. Of course, there are 2 parts to an Airbnb relationship. The first is always an opportunity to make new and interesting friends from across the world. The second is the “business transaction” and the professionalism and courteous behaviour of both host and guest. These parts must always be kept separate and not be allowed to interfere with each other. I hope you understand.
I am in a hotel for tonight. Good luck dealing with the guest from Canada.
