When you are the defendant in a court case in Australia, do not ignore it and stay at home!

The Judge this morning was “not amused”. I turned up as Plaintiff, on time, prepared, ready to go. The Defendant was a No Show. Their lawyer failed to advise the Court of a No Show with reasons, failed to file any sort of defence or argument, failed to organise attendance by telephone and failed to organise a duty lawyer to attend for the Defendant. Now my matter will proceed to a Higher Court with a big jump in costs for the Defendant.
