Fake news and click bait has been with us for a while now, with most people thinking, falsely, that they can discern real from fake. It’s only just starting, however, the first few results from your search engine query will more than likely be generated by an artificial intelligence driven algorithm that has sourced its result from the open internet. We rely on the internet to give us a sense of who and where we are in the World and that will be easily distorted through this emerging process. You have to exercise great discernment to pick your way through the morass of disinformation and misinformation that has already started to poison the internet and will eventually lead to its total demise as a reliable source of ‘anything’.
